MOESIA SUPERIOR, Viminacium. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Medallion (31mm, 47.98 g, 2h). Dated CY 1 (AD 239/40). IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / P M S COL VIM, Moesia standing facing, head left, extending hands; to left, bull standing right; to right, lion standing left; AN ·I· (date) in exergue. Cf. H&J, Viminacium 1 (normal module); Varbanov 107; Gorny & Mosch 121, lot 294. VF, black-brown patina. Struck on an exceptionally heavy and thick (6.5mm) flan. Extremely rare and interesting.
